Buyer Persona Survey Report Image.jpg

Grab a copy of all my research reports!

I write a lot about how to do market research for marketing purposes, and a few weeks ago, I wrote an article about using surveys to write buyer personas. As part of that project, I set out to conduct a short survey of marketers, with the goal of writing my own buyer persona for you to see. That doc - along with a step-by-step guide detailing how to write a buyer persona - will be published next week.

In the meantime….I have a FREE report for you!

The great thing about survey data is there’s a lot of excellent ways to look at it, and one of them is through reporting. That’s why I examined the responses of more than 250 marketers to uncover some of the hidden insights about how in-house marketers and marketing firms are all thinking about the world and the impacts of the Coronavirus.

Some incredible market research insights!

If you’re like me, some of these findings definitely popped out to you.

  • First off, a full 40% of marketers aren’t ready for life to return to normal? That’s pretty huge, especially considering so many marketers need the world to start spinning once again to really get their businesses in gear!

  • Brand awareness is huge in marketing right now, and 9 in 10 marketers I spoke to agreed that increasing brand awareness is going to be a huge priority over the next year. How will that play out, with so many marketers making a managed approach toward this marketing facet?

  • I’m excited to say that nearly every single marketer that participated in this study believes market research is going to be important in mapping out marketing over the next 6 to 12 months. Now, we just need to figure out some methodologies that make sense for marketers, so more of us can figure out how to do market research for our specific in-house and agency needs!

What does this mean for marketers?

Some of the incredible market research insights in this report shed light on how agencies and in-house marketers view the world - and their customers - differently in the new normal. Many aren’t ready to open up now, and others think completely differently of their own customers, for instance.

To make these insights work for your marketing, consider how some of the major perception changes could play out with your own audience or internal marketing goals.

  • Are you planning to increase your market research plans? The majority of your competitors already have those discussions in the works, so consider how to do market research for your goals now!

  • Are your clients considering brand awareness projects, or focusing more on reconnecting with new and existing customers? Know what they’re thinking so you can map out a competitive marketing strategy!

  • Do you know how many of your clients are just interested in ‘staying afloat’ right now?

Knowing the answers to these, and similar questions, is how you’re going to make your marketing stronger through market research. And, fortunately for you, these market research insights are highlighted throughout this report!
